IITM – Shiksha Prayas Mentorship Program
IITM – Shiksha Prayas Mentorship Program 2024–25
The IITM–Shiksha Prayas Mentorship Program supports students from four learning centres—Kanhai, Polar, Siwan and Taraori. Mentors connect with students through weekly calls during tuition hours, focusing on improving English communication, building confidence, and exploring academic and personal interests. All conversations take place through teachers’ phones, and mentors maintain regular written records of each session.
Participation Across Centres
Harpreet Singh and Lalit Raheja were the first to join the Polar Centre, and their dedication set its foundation. They brought in 30 children even before the centre officially began, sensing the community’s need for better educational opportunities and approaching the leadership with students, space, and teachers. Classes for Grades 6–8 started immediately, following the established roster of activities, and over time the centre grew in confidence and standards. In April 2025, Class 5 was added in response to parents’ requests to prepare children for Navodaya School, with Sheetal joining Mamta, Harpreet, and Lalit to strengthen the foundation in all subjects. Today, the Polar Centre continues to impress with its creativity, commitment, and enthusiasm for learning.
